Project duration: 1. 6. 2021 - 30. 4. 2024
Project budget: 90.000,00 EUR

Today is a New Day (DJND) are committed to promoting active participation, developing civil society and dialogue on public affairs, protecting and expanding the public good, recognizing the unsustainability of capitalist processes and speaking in favor of the need to transform the socio-political system for the benefit of society and nature. With the innovative use of web technologies, critical thinking, and good message design they create projects for various stakeholders – citizens, journalists, NGOs, politicians.

At DJND, they have developed and are developing several projects aiming to monitor the work of elected representatives, for example Parliameter, a tool for monitoring and analyzing the work of the parliament. In addition to Slovenia, Parliameter has also been implemented in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will soon be launched in Ukraine. They have also received several industry awards for Parliameter, including the Diggit Grand Prix for the best digital innovation, the Golden Diggit Award for NGOs and the Brumen Award in the Digital Products and Services category. They have developed several digital tools to facilitate the engagement of civil society, involvement in decision-making processes, and innovative interventions in the media and public space, such as Consul, Omnia Map, Newsgradient and Huda pobuda (Great Initiative). They are currently developing a tool for monitoring political promises. They are co-founders of the Consul Foundation and the Legal Network for the Protection of Democracy.

They regularly publish short critical reflections (Agrument), podcasts, as well as running more extensive campaigns. Since 2012 they have carried out more than 50 digital communication campaigns in which they draw attention to various socially important topics through a user-friendly experience using humor and innovative approaches. Through their campaign Kura (Hen) against battery-cage egg production, which was carried out together with the Society for the Protection of Animals Ljubljana, they collected almost 14,000 signatures of support and obtained concrete commitments for the withdrawal of such eggs from six retail chains.

They regularly cooperate with the public, Slovenian and foreign NGOs, civil society organizations and the media. The Institute has the status of a NGO operating in the public interest in the field of the development of the information society.

In the next three years they plan to increase the monitoring of the work of decision-makers and increase public involvement in decision-making processes by developing online tools and educating NGOs and the media. They want to equip the public with the knowledge, understanding and tools needed to identify false and misleading information and media manipulation online.

They want to create a stimulating working environment for their co-workers and recruit new volunteers. By establishing a system of long-term financial planning, they want to ensure stable financial conditions for institutional functioning and the projects that do not depend on calls for proposals.
