Stopping the Destruction of Public Healthcare is a project addressing the two sides of the healthcare crisis, both of which originate from private interests fiddling with the public system. Following the failure of the 2022 intervention bill, we are now proposing amendments that will actually improve the availability of services in the public system and prevent the uncontrolled outflow of healthcare money. Our primary focus is on the accessibility of general practitioner for all citizens and on encouraging extra work within public healthcare institutions. The second challenge is the unjust supplemental insurance with the same premium for the rich and the poor, which is supposed to be replaced at the start of next year by an even more unjust uniform mandatory contribution – the latter will present a large burden for the while bringing additional income tax allowance to the wealthy.

Within the framework of the project, we will build on the legislative proposals drawn up in spring by the Voice of the People Civil Initiative. The majority of activities will be aimed at the broad promotion of the proposed solutions and our advocacy campaign, which will include communication with decision-makers, public consultations and discussions. The objective the adoption of proposals that will benefit all Slovenian citizens, but first and foremost the most vulnerable groups: the socially disadvantaged, risk groups and patients with chronic illnesses.
